Auction Wrap-up

The SBA would like to thank both those who donated items to the auction as well as all who made it out on Thursday night to help raise money for the Student Bar Association and Graduation for the class of 2006.

With your help, we were able to bring in almost $6,000 and double that which was raised last year!

For those who bid the highest on a particular item, the SBA will be contacting you this week to distribute the various gift certificates as well as any information that you may need in order to get in contact with the professors that offered many of the great live items.

Pace (Environmental Moot Court Team)

The SBA would like to congratulate the Pace Moot Court traveling team who recently traveled to New York City to compete in the National Competition. Over the weekend, the Pace team consisting of Carly Gallagher, Marci Harris, and Haden Lawyer made it to the quarter finals of the competition. In addition to the team representing our school well, Marci Harris was awarded best oralist for the preliminary rounds of the competition.

The team put a lot of time and effort into preparing for the competition. Please show your support for its members as they return to school.

Bar Review / SBA Auction

Bar Review for February 23rd will be the SBA Auction at Newby's on the Highland Strip.

This event is one that everyone enjoys and draws a large crowd. Gather your friends, dust off your checkbooks, and come bid on one of the many great items being offered. The event is open to all. You need not be bidding to come enjoy incredible atmosphere, great drink specials, darts, pool, fooseball, free NTN Trivia and more.

The night kicks off @ 7 pm with the Silent Auction and will conclude with the live event. Through out the night raffle winners will be announced with prizes varying from t-shirts to cash money.

Auction Update!

The SBA auction is next Thursday!

The items are continuing to roll in and and the list is being updated on a daily basis. Thanks to all who have contributed their time and support, this year's event is shaping up to be a great success.

American Heart Association

Thanks to all who came out last night and participated in Trivia Night.

With your help, we were able to raise $130!

The SBA will be donating this money on your behalf to the American Heart Association.

Trivia Night!

Gather up some friends for a night of trivia and charity! This week's bar review is at the Young Avenue Deli in the heart of the Cooper Young district. Come enjoy dollar off domestic drafts and display your stellar intellect as the law school challenges the medical and dental schools in a battle of brain power.

The Deli has award winning food, a great beer selection, billiards, and has one of the best jukeboxes in Memphis.

The night kicks off @ 8 pm with trivia starting shortly thereafter. In addition to bragging rights, the winning teams will receive prizes. The cost to enter is $10 per team (5 members max) with proceeds going to The American Heart Association.

New Additions

The SBA website/blog continues to evolve. We have added several new features including a new calendar in which readers can view upcoming events, a weather tracker to view the current Memphis weather, and a google search engine. We have also included numerous links under the category of "Time Killers." Hopefully these links will prove entertaining, but under no circumstances does the SBA support the use of these links during class.

In addition to providing the student body and others interested the opportunity to become more involved in the University of Memphis' student sponsored activities, this blog is also designed to be extremely useful and helpful to the everyday law student. We welcome your input and urge you to continue visiting the site.

National Moot Court Competition

The SBA would like to congratulate the National Moot Court Team who recently placed second in the National Moot Court Competition! Shannon McKenna, Todd Richardson, and Mark Thompson, with help from their coach Dean Kritchevsky, carried the team to its highest placement in school history. Furthermore, to top off the great team showing, Mark Thompson was declared the competition's Best Oral Advocate.

The team put a lot of time and effort into preparing for the competition. Please show your support for the team as they settle back into school.
