Bar Review @ Swanky's

Bar review for September 28th will be at Swanky's in East Memphis.

Swanky's, on the corner of Poplar and Kirby, offers a full bar in addition to its excellent tequila bar which features top-of-the-line swigs and a number of signature drinks. There's a flat-screen TV over the bar for sports fans and a great patio to enjoy the incoming fall weather.

MPRE News

MPRE News from BAR/BRI:

The next Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam is Saturday, November 4th, 2006.

The registration deadline for the exam is September 26. The late registration deadline for the exam (fees double) is October 12.

You may register by going to www.ncbex.org


The BAR/BRI MPRE Review Course will be held on Saturday, October 21st in most locations*.

The registration deadline with BAR/BRI is October 12. You must have paid $175 toward your BAR/BRI tuition and completed an enrollment application. Stop by the BAR/BRI table on campus during the week to enroll.

Registration is at 8:45 a.m. and the course will begin at 9:00 a.m. The video lecture is approximately 4.5 hours. There will be a 10-minute break every hour. No break for lunch.

All course materials will be passed out at the course.

The Windjammer

The Windjammer, located in East Memphis near the Clark Tower, is always one of the most fun bar reviews, as everyone has a good time and lets loose. Come see your classmates (and Professor Mulroy) sing Karaoke and throw darts with friends. The Windjammer also has one of the few shuffle board tables in town.

SBA Golf Tournament

The SBA Golf Tournament is set for September 23rd.

The tournament will be at The Big Creek Golf Course. Sign-up sheets are posted in the student lounge on the SBA bulletin board. Register as soon as possible so we can determine how much food and drink we need to get. You don't need to have a full team to sign up. Entry is $60/person and in addition to 18 holes with a cart, each participant will receive free range balls, a goodie bag with great Memphis law merchandise and free food and drinks (alcoholic and non).

1L Bar Governor Elections

The Student Bar Association will hold elections for the 1L Bar Governor positions on Thursday, September 7th, 2006.

There are four candidates for the three available Bar Governor positions: Jeremy Durham, Michael Joiner, Josh Sudbury, and Owen Tidwell. The three 1Ls with the most votes will be elected.

Speeches will be held on Wednesday at 12pm in the lounge.

Elections will be held from 10am-2pm in the student lunchroom. Each name will appear on the ballot and students will be asked to circle 3 of the 4. If no poll worker is present, the ballots will be located in the career services office.

Only 1L's will be allowed to vote, and no one will be allowed to vote more than once.
